Overview

KidStory ("we", "our", or "us") provides a children’s story podcast application designed for kids ages 4–12, with all account and consent actions intended to be performed by a parent or guardian. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We comply with the Apple App Store Review Guidelines (including Kids category requirements) and Google Play Families Policy.

What We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to provide core functionality:

• Account information (if you sign in): name and email provided by your chosen provider (Apple or Google).
• Device and app identifiers: a locally generated device ID to support guest sessions and basic app operations.
• App activity: favorites, likes, playlists, and play history to sync across devices and improve user experience.
• Network and technical logs: limited, de-identified diagnostics for reliability and troubleshooting. In production, we minimize logs and avoid printing personally identifiable information.

We do not intentionally collect precise location, contacts, camera, or microphone data. We do not collect phone numbers or call logs. We do not use advertising IDs or perform cross-app tracking.

How We Use Data

• Provide and maintain core features such as story playback and background audio.
• Sync your favorites, likes, playlists, and play history across devices when signed in.
• Authenticate your account via Apple or Google, as you choose.
• Improve reliability and user experience through de-identified diagnostics.

We do not use your data for personalized advertising or profiling.

Children’s Privacy

KidStory is designed for children, but account actions (such as third-party sign‑in or viewing external policy pages) are gated by a parental verification step (“Parental Gate”) to ensure a parent or guardian initiates them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without verifiable parental consent.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited information only as necessary to operate the service:

• Authentication providers (Apple or Google) to sign you in.
• Service providers that process data on our behalf (e.g., hosting, analytics limited to product quality without cross-app tracking). These providers are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above. You can request account deletion in the app (Profile → Delete Account). Upon successful deletion, we will remove or de‑identify your personal data within a reasonable period, subject to legal obligations.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we continuously improve our safeguards.

International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where applicable, we implement appropriate safeguards consistent with local regulations.

Your Choices

• You may use KidStory as a guest without signing in.
• You may sign in with Apple or Google to enable syncing across devices.
• You may request account deletion in-app to remove your data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app. Your continued use of KidStory after changes take effect signifies acceptance of the updated policy.
